The North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) is a reform Jewish youth group for teenagers in the 9th through 12th grade and a part of the Union of Reform Judaism (URJ). JOY members are also members of NFTY.
NFTY is comprised of 20 regions ranging from the Southern California region to the North East Lakes Region, and includes every state in the U.S. as well as parts of Canada.
Our region, the Texas and Oklahoma Region, is commonly know as NFTY-TOR which includes 33 Temple Youth Groups (TYGs).
Oklahoma's chapter of NFTY is called OKATY (Oklahoma Temple Youth). Several times a year, the entire Texas-Oklahoma Region gets together for a Kallah or Conclave. The Summer L.T.I., Study Kallah and Spring Kallah are held at Greene Family Camp. Fall Conclave and Winter Conclave are held in host cities with home hospitality within the region.
These events give NFTYites the chance to focus on specified topics affecting their lives, practice Reform Judaism with other teens, meet new friends and make important decisions for the region.
In addition to these events, NFTY-TORites join with other NFTYites from all over North America at the NFTY Convention which is held every other year. They also participate in the NFTY In Israel Summer Program, the NFTY Leadership Academy at Kutz Camp and the NFTY E.I.E. High School in Israel program.
